MCA calls for action against group that roughed up seven

PETALING JAYA: MCA Youth has called for urgent action to be taken concerning the rowdy behaviour of two groups of undergraduates at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).

Its chief Datuk Liow Tiong Lai said the youth wing took the episode seriously and had asked the Higher Education Ministry and UPM to conduct an inquiry into the incident.

The movement also wanted to know the status of security in the university on that day.

It was reported that a group of about 50 students surrounded and pushed seven members of the UPM Gerakan Mahasiswa Maju (Student Progressive Front) at their campus cafeteria on Monday.

A video clip being circulated on the Internet shows a large group of students surrounding and pushing seven SPF members at the canteen.

Liow said the students should not be allowed to take matters into their own hands and that action should be taken against them.

“Students should learn to accept differences of opinion and be participative in healthy discourses, rather than jeer and boo. It is intimidating,” he said.

Liow said the MCA would lend its support in any way to deal with the problem and to handle it in a rational manner.

The MCA, he said, had been in touch with the Higher Education Ministry “to get to the bottom of the matter”.

The MCA, he said, wanted justice done and would work closely with the ministry to make sure that ties between the youths were more cohesive in the future.

MCA Youth secretary-general Dr Wee Ka Siong urged students and parents to remain calm and let the authorities deal with those involved.

He said the people should not speculate on what had motivated the youths in the first place, noting that the authorities were expected to report on what had actually happened before the next course of action was taken.

“We are saddened by the case which should not have happened in the first place because the university is a place to acquire knowledge,” he said.

IS THIS WHY WE SENDING OUR CHILIDREN TO THE UNIVERSITY? TO GET THEMSELF EXPOSED WITH THE REALITY OF THE WORLD? TO KNOW THAT THERE ARE NO SUCH THING AS UNITY? HOPE THE RELEVANT AUTHORITES WILL NOT JUST SWEPT IT UNDER THE CARPET.

Last night pergi tengok Pirates of the Carribean. Guess What, I slept in te middle of the show. (Bian, you are right, boring betul itu movie, part 1 is much more better) Really boring lar. After Captain Sparrow escaped from the island, most of the time these people yuk yuk and yuk only. Until myself oso cannot tahan. The good thing is, at least i managed to get some rest during the show. LOLZ! But I think the Birdgal was enjoying herself throughout the show. My mistake, should have asked her to wake me up if got action scene.

Well, next show will be the alien in red underwear, hope no more disappointment this time.

Face the Enemy

As one see more clearly their vocation is to be a witness to God's love in this world, and as we become more determined to live out that vocation, one cannot deny the fact that the attacks of the enemy will increase. Perhaps, we will hear voices saying,"You are worthless, you have nothing to offer, you are unlovable, undesirable, your love one are suffering because of you, etc". The more we sense God;s call, the more will discover in our own soul the cosmic battle between God and the evil one. So don't be surprised by the enemy's attack. Do not be afraid. Keep deepening your conviction that God's love for you is enough, that you are in safe hands, and that you are being guided every step of the way. Though the enemy's attack will increase, but as we face them without fear, we will discover that they are powerless. What is important is to keep clinging to the real, lasting and unambiguos love of Jesus. Whenever you do doubt that love, listen to His love's voice.
